Dr. Bhupender Singh Chahal is a highly respected veterinary professional with over three decades of extensive experience in clinical, administrative, and organizational roles within the field of veterinary sciences. He is a veterinary graduate from Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, having completed his degree in January 1988. Dr. Chahal began his professional journey as a veterinary clinician on November 3, 1988, at Pooth Kalan village, Delhi, where he established a well-maintained and trusted practice that continues to serve the community to date. His clinical expertise spans a wide range of species, including dairy animals, equines, sheep, goats, dogs, and cats. He has also been actively associated with several Gaushalas, providing expert treatment for sick and injured animals while guiding staff on improving animal healthcare and management practices at the grassroots level.

From April 1990 to November 1991, Dr. Chahal served as Chief Surgeon and In-Charge of the Outdoor and Indoor Patient Departments (OPD & IPD) at the prestigious Sanjay Gandhi Animal Care Centre, Raja Garden, Delhi, contributing significantly to animal welfare and clinical services. He further enriched his professional career by serving as a Scientific Officer at DRDO (Defence Research & Development Organisation) from 1st December 1991 to 30th November 1992, under the Ministry of Defence, at DIPAS (Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences), functioning under the Scientific Advisor to the Raksha Mantri.

At present, Dr. Chahal is serving as the President of the Small Animal Veterinary Association (SAVA), Delhi, the leading association of practicing veterinarians in Delhi and NCR, comprising over 300 members. He has been an active executive committee member and office bearer in multiple terms before being elected President in March 2023. SAVA is affiliated with FSAPAI (Federation of Small Animal Practitioners Associations of India) and actively works on professional, regulatory, and welfare issues by coordinating with the Veterinary Council of India, Delhi Veterinary Council, and the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying. Under his leadership, the association regularly organizes Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programs, seminars, and educational events for veterinarians and veterinary students across all sectors.

In addition, Dr. Chahal is also serving as the President of the Pet Practitioners Association (PPA), Delhi, a registered body dedicated to veterinary education, training, public awareness, school outreach programs, Dog Shows, and annual Anti-Rabies Camps. He further contributes to animal welfare and public health as the Vice President of Canis Welfare Pet Club (CWPC), Delhi, an organization bringing together veterinarians, animal activists, and pet lovers. CWPC organizes large-scale Dog Shows, Anti-Rabies Drives, and works in coordination with the Indian Medical Association (IMA) on rabies awareness campaigns and mass vaccination initiatives.

The organization also proudly hosts the annual World Veterinary Day celebrations, held on the last Saturday of April, bringing together more than 500 veterinary professionals from diverse sectors, including private practitioners, Remount Veterinary Corps (RVC), state government services, MCD, and various ministries. With his unwavering dedication to veterinary practice, education, animal welfare, and professional development, Dr. Bhupender Singh Chahal continues to be a guiding force and a respected leader in the veterinary fraternity of Delhi and NCR.
